Joseph Van De Loo, Executive Director

joeJoseph P. Van De Loo is the Chief Executive Officer of the Association Development Group, Inc. — an Albany based company dedicated to communications and association management. ADG began working with the New York State Association for Superintendents of Buildings and Grounds in 2001.

He has worked in the government relations, communications and public relations fields for many years. Joe was a Lyndon Baines Johnson Congressional Fellow in the 95th Congress and has worked in offices of members of both the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, DC and the New York State Assembly in Albany. He has been responsible for developing and executing public relations, lobbying and grassroots campaigns for statewide associations and coalitions and has managed political campaigns for both Democratic and Republican candidates.

Joe is a 1979 graduate of Union College, magna cum laude, with honors in political science. In addition, he holds a Juris Doctor degree from Union University. Joe is a member of the Empire State Society of Association Executives. He has been an active volunteer for various fundraising and community development committees and has served on the Board of the Albany-area Chapter of the American Cancer Society.

He resides in the Albany area with his wife Kathleen Van De Loo, the founder and President of the Association Development Group, Inc. Joe and Kathy have three wonderful children, Emily, Jonathan and Justin.

Kathleen Van De Loo, Deputy Executive Director

kathy Kathleen A. Van De Loo is the founder and president of the Association Development Group, Inc. - an Albany-based association management and communications firm. The company was established in 1996, after ten years of working exclusively for government relations law firms.

Kathleen served on the Board of Directors of the Empire State Society of Association Executives (ESSAE), and currently chairs the Association Leadership Academy Committee. She was Secretary to the Board of Directors for the Catholic Charities Caregivers Respite Agency. Kathleen was an active volunteer for the Ronald McDonald House, and a mentor for the Albany School of Humanities and Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce Mentor Program.

Ms. Van De Loo has dedicated her entire career to meeting the communications and organizational needs of statewide associations and coalitions.

 

Megan Thompson Geroux, Communications Director

megMegan joined the Association in 2007. Before joining the Association, Meg spent three years as the Communications Manager for Support Services Alliance (SSA), a New York State small-business membership organization serving nearly 15,000 member companies. There, she coordinated and edited all of their publications and was responsible for the redesign of their bi-monthly magazine. Under her leadership, the magazine won the Communicator Awards' "Award of Distinction" and MarCom Gold Award in 2006. Meg also implemented and managed member retention campaigns, which included direct mail pieces, marketing e-mails, and internal advertisements promoting member programs and discounts.

Meg is a graduate of Marist College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a concentration on writing and earned her Master of Arts degree in Public Communications from The College of Saint Rose. Meg is a member of the Empire State Society of Association Executives (ESSAE) and is a 2008 graduate of the Association Leadership Academy.

Donna Stelling-Gurnett, Corporate Relations Director

Donna is an experienced association manager with over 15 years in strategic planning, association fundraising, volunteer and membership development, administrative and financial management. Donna most recently served as executive director for PRRI, Inc. -- Massachusetts' largest association management firm. At PRRI Donna oversaw the day-to-day management and association activities of three medical specialty societies: Thoracic Surgery Foundation for Research and Education, Congenital Heart Surgeons' Society, and the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons.

From 2000-2006, Donna worked as Executive Director of the Scleroderma Foundation; and from 1995-2000, she worked for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society -- first the Northeastern New York Chapter, then the Central New England Chapter.

She earned her associate's degree in business and financial management from Berkshire Community College.

Donna lives with her husband, Larry, in Columbia County, New York, and enjoys running, cycling, and cooking in her spare time.
