Facilities Assessment Program Print E-mail

Whether you want to make the most of your budget, find evidence for needed changes or resolve a district-wide issue, an outside perspective can be invaluable. SBGA's Facilities Assessment Program provides just that.

At the core of the assessment is a team of professionals from other New York State school districts and the New York State Education Department.

Team members:

  • Visit all of the sites in a school district
  • Interview district stakeholders: administrators, teachers, students, support staff, community members, town officials, PTA/PTO members and others
  • Gather detailed input from the facilities management staff
  • Analyze the findings against standardized criteria, such as comparative indices, work standards, systems analysis, safety and health requirements and managerial practices
  • Create a comprehensive plan to address issues

These teams can review and analyze a wide variety of areas:

  • Range of facilities services
  • Facilities management organization and structure
  • Expectations of stakeholders
  • Relationships with school-based and community organizations
  • Levels of facilities staffing
  • Automated systems
  • Work planning
  • Quality of service
  • Security
  • Equipment needs
  • Space requirements
  • Budgeting
  • Future capital planning
  • Energy management
  • Health, safety and environmental issues

The Assessment program gets results
The facilities assessment plan can place your school district among the most efficient and effective operations in New York State. Just as important, it helps you make the most of your resources and your budget. All this for a modest cost, with a sliding scale determined by student population and district budget size.

"The Facilities Assessment Program gave us a fresh perspective on many aspects of our work. Department performance has improved and the continuous planning process, which now focuses on outcomes, is much more effective." - Judith Johnson, Peekskill CSD, Superintendent of Schools
