Dependent children of SBGA active and affiliate members can apply for the Fred Hack Memorial Scholarship Awards. Each year, six $1,500 scholarships are given to children of SBGA members in an effort to help defray the high cost of education. Applications are available in January and awards are presented in May.

Since 1993 SBGA has given out over $145,000 in scholarships.

The Association has contracted with Scholoarship America to manage the Fred Hack Memorial Scholarship Program. Scholarship America will be managing the 2008 program, under the new guidelines set by the SBGA Board of Directors. Applications will be available January 15, 2008. (Application deadline March 31, 2008).

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be:

• Children of NYS SBGA Active & Affiliate members who have completed one year of full-time continuous membership at the time of the deadline date for submitting the scholarship program application;
• Students must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time program of studies leading to an Associate or Bachelor's Degree at any accredited postsecondary school;
• A recipient may not receive an award more than two times; and
• A recipient may not receive an award two consecutive years.
